A Stepping Stone Foundation’s Internship Program

Through A Stepping Stone Foundation’s internship program, we give former preschoolers who have graduated high school the opportunity to work in our administrative office to gain practical and paid work experience. We hire them for up to two years and they work ten hours a week during the public school year. When their internship is completed, they leave with a letter of recommendation and the knowledge that they have given back to the LEAF Program, which supported their educational success in those early years.

A little Internship history…

Because A Stepping Stone Foundation has an intentional long-term focus, when our first preschoolers began reaching high school we established the Billie Gannaway Memorial Scholarship Program. At that same time, we began discussion of how to also create work experience for these same students and after several years of thoughtful discussion, our first two interns were hired in 2012 to work in the Stepping Stone administrative office.

Our Impact…

Since 2012, nine students have interned in our office. They bring youthful exuberance and a reminder to the senior staff that the seeds of education we plant for today’s families bear wonderful fruit a generation later.
