A Stepping Stone Foundation board membership is an important role.  Being a member is a promise to our children, families and scholars that you will help the board set the vision and maintain the health of A Stepping Stone Foundation.  You and the board will work in concert with the Executive Director to ensure the Foundation has the resources it needs to deliver its mission.

We invite you to look further into this rewarding way to serve your community through board service.  If you have a passion for helping our community provide quality education to families whose children are at risk of school failure due to low levels of literacy in the home, then board service may be for you.  If you have 2-5 hours a month, including a two-hour board meeting every-other month, then board service may be for you.

Here is the process to become a board member:

  1. Contact the Executive Director or Board President to arrange for an informal chat about why you are interested and whether we are a good fit for one another.
  2. After an informal chat with the Executive Director and/or Board President, you must visit one of our LEAF program sites to see first-hand what we do.
  3. Next, you must visit a board meeting.
  4. Finally, we will invite you to fill out a two-page board application. After the board votes and your application is accepted, you will be required to sign a Conflict of Interest and a Board Commitment Form.  Both those forms can be previewed below.

Rest assured, we look for people whose passion matches ours and accordingly, we do not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, gender identity, age or religious affiliation-or any other arbitrary characteristic that would prevent an otherwise qualified candidate from service.
